More News...

... I found information about an Italian ancestor of mine today. Found a cousin researching him. She gave me more information. Bon Giorno Spaghetti!

Okay, so other than genealogy terms I cannot speak Italian. lol. Giuseppe! Linguini! Fusilli! Penne Al Dente! Olive Garden!

I also downloaded music from Alvin and the Chipmunks today. Along with Little Women the Musical and some stuff from Thoroughly Modern Millie. This adds to my already growing Itunes where I recently downloaded some more Latin music.

Can anyone tell my tastes are eclectic?

I am feeling a bit better today. I have been resting a lot.

I have a lot of work to do tomorrow.

My bedroom is cleaner now. That always makes me feel better. Anyone else feel less stressed when there isn't clutter and junk everywhere? I know I do. I feel like I accomplished something by cleaning my room today.

And a question for the masses: If two men were living together and were celibate, Temple-going and recommended, would you think that their ward members would have a problem with it? Or... would it even really matter what they think because these two men would know that Heavenly Father knew their hearts?

I found some Post-its today. I haven't used them in a long time. I'm going to start again. Please help if I become addicted.

[raises hand] ooo ooo ooo, pick me, pick me

The bottom line is that what other members think is irrelevant in the eternal scheme of things; however, it does matter if the two men want to be socially accepted in their ward. The opinions of ward members would depend on the public actions of the two men. In other words, do they appear to just be roommates? Or do they appear to be lovers (holding hands and other forms of public intimacy)? It also depends on how 'out' the men are. If it is publicly known that the two men are gay and celibate then certain forms of public intimacy might be more tolerated; however, they might also not be considered for certain callings. For example, it might not occur to the young men's president that a gay celibate man could serve as an adult youth leader; therefore, he wouldn't submit his name to the bishopric.

Sure, some ward members are going to 'talk' as some things are difficult to hide (such as the men never dating women); but, those are usually the busybody types whose opinions are not taken very seriously (they are probably talking about other ward members too)

What would celibate mean? Like, can they kiss, hold hands, cuddle, etc.? I have doubts that "everything but" is a tenable proposition, but maybe I'm just a whore.

I think most ward members, though, if they knew this couple was gay, regardless of actual PDAs, would assume they're just having sex with each other on the sly and would be very, very uncomfortable with it. But really, there's only one ward member who'd need to be comfortable with it in order for your system to work: the bishop. I don't know how many bishops would endorse for temple recommends men in such a situation.

On a different note, I was sort of mixed on Little Women. Are you a big fan?

That is a very good question - and one which I believe needs more discussion and open debate.

I don't know how many bishops would endorse for temple recommends men in such a situation.

Being a member of a bishopric myself - I believe that there are more bishops who would be supportive than you may realize.
